On a November 5, 2025 episode of the podcast Las Culturistas, actress Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she and fellow artiste Emma Stone were working on a movie about Miss Piggy, saying, "I don't know if I can announce this, but I'm just gonna. Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie, and [playwright] Cole Escola is writing it." In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later that day, Lawrence expanded on the concept, saying,

“During lockdown, one of my good friends who's not in the industry was, like... It was also kind of around cancel culture, it was like both things were happening at once, we were all locked up in our rooms, naughty people were being locked up in prison. And she was, like — Miss Piggy is a feminist icon — and she said, you know, it would be so funny if Miss Piggy got cancelled. Now, that is not the plot, necessarily, but it got the wheels turning, of, like, wait, there hasn't actually been a feminist movie, like, Miss Piggy starring in this movie. So I started kind of producing it, but... Emma Stone is the Muppet head. Also, Emma Stone is a shark... So I went to her, like, what do we do? So now Cole is writing it, and they're perfect.”

Fallon followed up to ask if Lawrence would be in the purported movie, and she responded in the affirmative.

By the end of the day, Variety reported that the film "is in early development at Disney... according to knowledgeable sources."

The Walt Disney Company and The Muppets Studio have not made public comments about the project.
