Open Sesame episodes

Based on full episodes from Australia, Pakistan, Turkey, Sweden, and Finland found so far. Randomly-ordered.

Episode 1: - Ernie has gone shopping -- buying bread for himself, and peanut butter for Bert. They realize that it's dull to eat what they have separately, and they decide to cooperate, so they can each have a peanut butter sandwich.

Episode 2: - Grover gets under his blanket, pretending that he is on the moon. - Bert shows off his bottlecap collection to Ernie, who remembers that he found a Figgy Fizz bottle cap -- the very one that Bert needed to complete his collection.

Episode 3: - Bert and Ernie go fishing. Ernie catches fish by yelling "Here fishy, fishy, fishy," and fish come flying to his boat. Bert tries it, but only catches a shark. - Ernie has a piece of string on each finger, in order to remind himself that they're all out of string.

Episode 4: - Grover is a personal trainer and exercise with Bobby and Sissy. However, he gets tired from swinging his arms, running, and jumping up and down that he faints. - As Bert tries to read a book, Ernie comes into the living room and tells him that it's time to exercise. Bert would rather keep reading, so Ernie tags him and claims he is "it." He then peeks around every side of Bert's chair, reminding the viewer that Bert is now "it" at different volumes. Bert eventually loses his temper and starts chasing Ernie, finally tagging him and making him "it." Bert then admits that the exercising was fun...which is good news, because Ernie tags him once again, restarting the game.

Episode 5: - It's time for Bert to give his nephew, Brad, a bath, but Ernie thinks the tub needs some toys, and puts so many toys in the tub that there is no room for Brad to take a bath. - Grover demonstrates "near" and "far" while surfing.

Episode 6: - On a rainy day, Ernie watches TV, when Bert suggests he do something else, like write a story. Thus, Ernie sets everything out on the table, including pencils, paper, a pencil sharpener, and a wastebasket (which somehow ended up on Bert's head). Ernie now has everything he needs to write a story except a story idea. He decides to leave everything laid out until he has one.

Episode 7: - Ernie notices that Bert is feeling sad, but Bert doesn't know why. Ernie thinks it's odd for Bert to be sad for no reason, and comes up with reasons to feel sad. Bert feels better after hearing this (and that there's no reason for him to feel sad), but Ernie's last idea (missing your best friend after he's moved) ends up making Ernie feel terrible.

Episode 8: - It's cold outside, so Bert tries to ask Ernie to play a game with him. Ernie keeps bringing winter equipment into the room, thinking Bert wants to play outside. It turns out he just wants to play a game of checkers.

Episode 9: - Ernie has Bert play a "Follow the Arrows" game, which leads him to the main camera, looking at the TV viewer.

Episode 10: - Ernie brings a surprise home, and he tells Bert to guess what it is. The surprise turns out to be a puppy. Bert wants to call the puppy Norman; Ernie suggests Godzilla the Wonder-Dog.

Episode 11: - Ernie talks about the differences between himself and his cousin, Ernestine. - Grover takes several dogs for a walk, explaining that dogs need exercise as much as people do.

Episode 12: - Ernie can't sleep, so Bert tells him to count sheep. Ernie tries to count sheep, but it's dull -- so he starts counting fire engines. The noise from the imaginary fire engine wakes Bert up. Bert says that Ernie's waking up the whole neighborhood, and tells him to count something quieter. Ernie counts balloons -- but the balloon gets bigger and bigger, finally bursting with a huge explosion that wakes Bert up again. - Ernie has two bags of cookies, one of which has several cookies, and one that only has one cookie. Ernie asks Cookie Monster which he'd rather have, and Cookie Monster naturally chooses the bag with many cookies. However, Cookie is disappointed that his cookies are very small, while Ernie's one cookie is very big, so Ernie breaks his cookie into several small pieces.

Episode 13: - Part 2: Cookie Monster has a bad dream in which he is surrounded by flying, singing cookies who won't let him reach them.

Episode 14: - "Bert's Blanket" - Grover comes to Kermit's house to fix his sink. Kermit fills him in on a demonstration of big, bigger and biggest when it comes to wrenches. Even so, the sink repair goes awry, and the house floods. - "Do De Rubber Duck"

Episode 15: - A lady with a very tall hat sits in front of Ernie, blocking his view of the movie.

Episode 16: - Ernie helps Cookie Monster in making apple-walnut-raisin cookies, but every time Ernie hands the monster each ingredient, Cookie Monster instantly devours it.

Episode 17: - - Ernie doesn't think pigeons are able to laugh at Bert's jokes, but he's wrong.

Episode 18: - Ernie and Bert explore an Egyptian pyramid. Bert is excited but Ernie is afraid. They see statues that look like them. Bert decides to explore a tunnel while Ernie looks at the statues, and then the Ernie statue starts tapping and talking to Ernie. But when Ernie calls Bert back to the room, the statue doesn't move. Ernie is scared until the statue starts singing and dancing Rubber Duckie with him. Bert doesn't believe Ernie until he says "Bye-bye, statue," and the statue replies "Bye-bye!" and laughs... just like Ernie, scaring Bert.

Episode 19: - Ernie and Bert build a snowman, but Ernie fears that the snowman will be cold if they don't dress him. Even though Bert tries to tell him that snowmen can't feel the cold, that doesn't stop Ernie from dressing the snowman in Bert's clothing. - Grover sits in a park and recites a poem about a butterfly that he sees.

Episode 20: - "Do You Like Me?"

Episode 21: - "Imagine That"

Episode 22: - "Dance Myself to Sleep"

Episode 23: - "One Fine Face" - "Doin' the Pigeon"

Episode 24: - "Grow High Grow Low"

Episode 25: - "The Insects in Your Neighborhood" - "Women Can Be"

Episode 26: - "Hey Food"

Episode 27: - King Ernie wants something to drink, so he calls on the Royal Smart Person for help. The royal cow has quit, so there's no milk available. Ernie also shows that there is no liquid inside a rock or a stick. Then the Royal Smart Person suggests that Ernie should try squeezing a round orange thing (an orange), which turns out to have juice inside.

Episode 28: - Grover sells newspapers in the street. He thinks they are for making paper hats, but a customer shows him they are actually for reading. The customer wants to buy a newspaper, but Grover won't stop reading the paper that the customer wants to buy. Grover reads about the construction of a new building, a parade, and an expected rain shower, all of which occur as Grover reads. - Ernie can't seem to get Ernestine to say his name, but Ernestine has no trouble saying Bert's name.
