VH1 is a basic cable channel that originally specialized in showcasing music videos. Starting in 1995, the network began developing original programming and has transitioned to a music and popular culture based format. It is owned by MTV Networks.
Several shows on VH1 have included appearances by and references to the Muppets, including The Greatest TV Moments: Sesame Street Music A-Z and I Love the 70s. Animal's "Wipe Out" music video was played on the network as well.
“Hmm, I don't have many, you know, but I once made the mistake of wearing DKNY, CK and BCBG all at the same time... Sheesh, all those letters, I looked like a train wreck on Sesame Street.”
In addition, the network has on occasion been used by others to satarized the Muppets - both Robot Chicken and Family Guy have parodied its long-running Behind the Music documentary series with fictitious episodes based on Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
