Overhead shot of Vassar, playing Danhurst

Vassar College is a private liberal arts college located in Poughkeepsie, New York and historically famous as a women's college before becoming fully co-educational in 1969. The school was used as Danhurst College in The Muppets Take Manhattan, with the campus layout and stately buildings fully exhibited in the opening credits. The exterior of the auditorium where the senior variety show is held was actually the Vassar dining hall.

In 1993, Vassar College sponsored a "Jim Henson Day," celebrating Henson's life and work. This event, which originated from student requests, was the first Jim Henson Legacy event. Jane Henson spoke at the event, and there was an exhibit of Henson's puppets.
