Virtual Running Club is a company founded in 2013 that organizes virtual racing events in which participants race wherever and however they want over a set period of time. This can include by walking, running, or even swimming and dancing.
Once participants register in a race, they report their time in Virtual Running Club’s mobile app. When they finish a race, they get shipped a finisher medal. Shirts, bibs, and other merchandise are also available for purchase.
Virtual Running Club has partnered with Sesame Workshop for several races beginning in 2019. Each race had different distance options that participants could choose from, such as 1K, 5K, and 10K.
These races benefited Sesame Workshop and the Yellow Feather Fund.

The Get to Sesame Street Challenge is a year-long athletic challenge held annually since 2021. It consists of two races: the 100 Mile Challenge and the 500 Mile Challenge. Participants received pins as they reached certain milestones.
