"Waiting for Maria" is a series of brief songs performed by Placido Flamingo in Sesame Street Episode 2447.
As Luis waits for Maria to join him at Birdland, Placido is reminded of the many operas in which he played a character who had to wait for someone. He tries to figure out how Luis is feeling by singing samples from the operas to show different emotions: anger (from Lo Procrastinator Torre), sad (Lucia di Latecomer), and fear (from Snails of Hoffman). Maria finally arrives, explaining that she was finishing fixing Uncle Wally's blender - which of course reminds Placido of his performance in The Marriage Presents of Figaro.
