Weihnachten mit Ernie & Bert ("Christmas with Ernie & Bert") is a Sesamstrasse special that first aired Christmas 2008 (December 24 and 25 on KiKa and December 26 on NDR). It re-aired on December 24, 2009 on ARD.
Similar to Sesamstrasse, the special combines a framing story filmed in Germany, with a variety of insert clips taken from Sesame Street, with each framing clip serving as a topical intro to the following dubbed clip.
The 44-minute special was later edited down to 28 minutes on re-airings (including on NDR in December 2012). Three archival clips ("Gingerbread Man," "El Baile del Pinguino," and the Reporter Wolle sketch) were omitted, as well as the associated framing scenes.

Scene | Ernie finds the chocolate cream, but discovers that it's empty. Bert doesn't believe him since it's still new. As he tries to get the cream out he gets it all over his face. As the door bell rings, Bert yells to Ernie that they don't have time for visitors, so Ernie answers the door and tells the old man at the door that they just don't have the time right now. Meanwhile Bert has hauled the Christmas tree inside the living room, which Ernie thinks is beautiful though something seems to be wrong with it. He notices a small leaf on the side of it and as he tries to take it off, he knocks over the entire tree.
Muppets | On Die Grosse Sesamstrassen-Musikshow Rumpel sings his version of "O Christmas Tree". During the song, Bert appears dressed as Santa Claus.

Muppets | Ernie and Bert are building a snowman, but Ernie fears that the snowman will be cold if they don't dress him. Even though Bert tries to tell him that snowmen can't feel the cold, that doesn't stop Ernie from dressing the snowman in Bert's clothing.
Scene | The doorbell rings again and Ernie reminds the freezing old man that they don't have time for visitors. As he closes the door he remembers something, so he opens the door again, wishes the old man a merry Christmas, and closes the door again. Bert asks who it was and Ernie tells him that it was the old man again, with the white beard and that red hat. Ernie remarks that Bert looks very handsome in his fine clothes, and goes to change as well. In the meantime Bert begins to realize who Ernie described standing outside the door. Just as Bert is about to open the door, Ernie returns to show Bert his nice clothes. Bert though, does not approve of Ernie's choice of clothing.
