Werewolves are mythical creatures who are normally human, but change into wolves or wolf-human hybrids by some prompting, usually the light of a full moon. The affliction, sometimes referred to as lycanthropy, is often the result of a curse passed on from host to host, but sometimes attributed to a medical condition.
Werewolves have been written about in folklore and fiction for centuries, and popularized in Hollywood with the 1941 Universal Pictures release The Wolf Man and subsequent films, as well as An American Werewolf in London, Teen Wolf, The Twilight Saga, and others.
