Wide World of Sesame Street is a recurring format of Sesame Street episodes, first appearing in season 20 and airing as late as the early 1990s. The fictional show would take the place of the regular street story and scenes, instead formatting the episode around a typical episode of "Wide World."
The show is hosted by reporter Telly Monster, who follows the life of a different Sesame Street resident each week. Subjects have included Linda (Episode 2542), Miles (Episode 2591), Gordon (Episode 2782), and Polly Darton (Episode 2823). A similarly-themed segment, "The Wide Wide World of the World," aired in season 24 with Mel Gibson representing Australia.
In addition to performing Telly, Martin P. Robinson voices the series' announcer, using an imitation of Howard Cosell.
