Wings is a sitcom which ran from 1990 to 1997, focusing on the staff of a single charter plane airline and other hangers-on at a Nantucket airport. Created by three Cheers writers/producers and set in the same state (Massachusetts), various Cheers bar denizens visited on occasion.
Muppet Mentions[]
- In the fifth season episode "Terminal Jealousy," Lowell ponders, "If you're driving a car down Sesame Street, would you, in fact, end up in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood?"
- In the eighth season episode "The Gift of Life," Joe gripes that his only, last-minute choices at a Halloween costume store were Pinocchio or Miss Piggy.
References[]
- When Wings star Tim Daly and Grover were both guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Daly spent much of his spot disparaging Sesame Street. When Grover comes out, after initially refusing to talk, he teases Daly by saying "I loved you in Sideways" (thus confusing Daly with Thomas Haden Church, who played Lowell on Wings and at the time had received an Oscar-nomination for Sideways).
