Sherlock poses with the letter X in an alternate shot for the cover of the song's 1976 audio release. Note in this uncropped version the duct tape used to keep Sherlock in his pose.
"X Marks the Spot!" is a Sesame Street song about the letter X, sung by Sherlock Hemlock on The Muppet Alphabet Album, and later taped as a segment on the show. Among the items Sherlock encounters are an X target, a crossroad sign, an X-ray machine, a railroad crossing sign, a skull-and-crossbones sign (which can be a symbol for danger, poison and pirates), and finally, a xylophone.
